How to Identify Your iPhone Model and Model Number
Details

So, how do you figure out what iPhone model you have, anyway? Well, first you need to find the model number. It's like the phone's ID, kind of. Apple has a list of all the iPhone models and their corresponding model numbers, no matter where you bought your phone. Once you know the model number, you can check out Apple's list and learn all sorts of other details about your phone.

To find the model number on your iPhone, here's what you do:

Open up the Settings app. Scroll down to “About.” There, you'll see your device's model name listed under “Software Version.” Right next to “Model Number” is the part number for your device. To see the model number itself, you just tap the part number.

And if for some reason you can't access the device's settings, don't worry. You can find the model number on the device itself in one of these places:

iPhone 8 and Later: If your iPhone 8 or later model has a SIM card slot, take out the SIM card and look in the slot. With a little overhead light, you should be able to see the model number on the top side (the side with the screen).

If your model doesn't have a SIM card slot, that means it only supports eSIM. In that case, you can find the model number on the top side of the Lightning connector. Easy breezy, right?
